2D Art Team Lead, World of Tanks

Wargaming is an online game developer and publisher headquartered in Nicosia, Cyprus. Its flagship products include the free-to-play games World of Tanks, World of Warships, and World of Tanks Blitz.

• Manage, mentor, and develop a high-performing 2D art team, including Supervisors and Experts, focusing on career development, performance management, and day-to-day empowerment
• Define, implement, and optimize 2D art production pipelines; anticipate bottlenecks, scale workflows, and improve efficiency while maintaining AAA quality
• Drive the adoption of new technologies, including AI tools and automated workflows; guide the team through transitions, secure buy-in, and mitigate risks
• Build strategic working relationships with Art Directors, Producers, Art Owners Project Managers, and cross-functional stakeholders; align teams and translate project goals into actionable art strategies
• Distribute team tasks at a macro level, plan capacity, schedule feature production, and maintain high-level planning across the project lifecycle
• Review artistic output and ensure it meets requirements for light, perspective, and materials
• Oversee 2D art outsourcing and external vendors, set quality benchmarks, provide feedback, and integrate external assets into the internal pipeline
• Foster an innovative environment that encourages creative problem-solving, participation, and knowledge-sharing

• Proven experience as an Art Manager, Associate Art Director, or 2D Lead Artist in the AAA game industry, including managing other leads or large art teams
• Deep understanding of modern generative AI tools, such as Midjourney, and an ethical, effective approach to integrating them into concepting and production pipelines
• Strong interpersonal skills and experience guiding teams through organizational or technological change, aligning stakeholders, and resolving production challenges
• Ability to audit, design, and streamline art pipelines
• Strong foundational art knowledge, including light, perspective, anatomy, and materials
• Comprehensive knowledge of industry-standard 2D software, including Photoshop and Illustrator
• Ability to inspire others, generate ideas, and foster continuous improvement
• Excellent communication skills for explaining complex visual and technical goals to artistic and non-artistic teams
• Fluent English
