Hiscox is an international insurer specialising in luxury goods and property markets, as well as high-end professional insurance. The Europe Data Team supports data engineering, analysis, and management across European operations by delivering data pipelines, reporting, governance frameworks, and trusted data for decision-making.

• Analyse and document business requirements for reporting and analytical needs;
• Perform data analysis and discovery across multiple sources to validate data quality, identify gaps, and support decision-making;
• Extract and prepare data for ad hoc business requests;
• Monitor analytical platform outputs for accuracy, consistency, and alignment with business expectations;
• Support data modelling and mapping activities and ensure business rules are correctly defined and implemented;
• Analyse data from various systems to support mapping processes feeding the European Data Platform;
• Collaborate with data engineers and business stakeholders to translate functional requirements into technical solutions;
• Contribute to improving data processes, standards, and platform evolution;
• Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports;
• Build and manage data models, relationships, and calculations in Power BI;
• Apply data visualisation best practices to create clear and impactful dashboards;
• Stay up to date with new Power BI features and industry trends to improve reporting capabilities.

• Good understanding of data mapping and business intelligence concepts;
• Knowledge of data modelling techniques, including star schema;
• Experience using SQL to query and manipulate data;
• Hands-on experience with Power BI, including report creation, data modelling, and DAX;
• Ability to understand business needs and translate them into technical requirements;
• Strong communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders;
• At least three years of experience in Business Intelligence or Data and Analytics roles;
• Experience in functional analysis, ideally within the insurance industry;
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Management, Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics, or a related field;
• Fluent English, both spoken and written;
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a team;
• Ability to communicate ideas clearly to technical and non-technical audiences;
• Strong relationship-building skills with end users;
• Comfortable working in environments with ambiguity and change;
• Flexible, adaptable, and resilient;
• Nice to have: Experience with Databricks or exposure to Databricks-based data and analytics environments.
