As a Project Manager at ICON, you are responsible for the coordination of bioanalytical projects and ensure that they are carried out according to the agreed timelines, budgets, client expectations and quality requirements, including compliance with regulations such as GLP and GCP. You will be based onsite at Assen 60% of your work week.
You are an important link between the laboratory, internal stakeholders and our clients. In doing so, you combine scientific insight with project-based thinking: you analyse problems, ask the right questions, consider possible solutions and translate these into concrete actions.
This requires someone who can reduce complex information to its core, both in Dutch and English.
- Managing and reporting on bioanalytical studies, including monitoring and evaluating progress in terms of milestones, budgets and timelines, as well as reviewing and approving laboratory data and ensuring compliance with GxP regulations and SOPs.
- Obtaining and reviewing client-specific documents (for example, study plan, clinical study protocol, randomisation lists and certificates of analysis) to ensure compliance with specifications and regulations.
- Regular communication with clients regarding project progress and reporting significant deviations.
- Processing any QA findings.
- Leading sponsor meetings and ensuring that agendas and minutes are accurately maintained.
- Ensuring good collaboration and alignment between the various internal parties (analysts, team leaders and cross-functional departments).
- Required Qualifications
- Demonstrable university-level education/thinking level (PhD is preferred).
- Strong understanding of bioanalytical techniques and their application in clinical research.
- Demonstrable experience in project management, preferably within the bioanalytical field.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills (Dutch and English), with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to proactively identify and address problems.
- Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and work with clients.
- Experience with HPLC, LC-MS/MS or LSC is preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of GxP and GLP is preferred.
In addition to your professional experience, we believe it is important that your way of working is suited to this position.
You communicate clearly and concisely in both Dutch and English. You can structure complex information, distinguish between main and secondary issues, and translate conversations into clear conclusions, agreements and action points. You know your strengths and are aware of areas in which you can further develop yourself. You are open to feedback and are willing to call upon the expertise of others when necessary.
You can function effectively when workload increases and different interests or deadlines come together. In doing so, you are aware of your own limits and of the effect of workload on your mental and physical capacity. You communicate about this and take timely action when necessary.
You approach problems in a structured and fact-based way. You ask critical questions, analyse the available information and reach well-founded conclusions.
When something does not go according to plan, you focus not only on the problem, but primarily on what is possible. You think in terms of alternatives and solutions, while continuing to safeguard quality, regulations and feasibility.
You understand that processes, priorities and organisations change. You can adapt to new circumstances, are open to improvement and help to move changes forward in a constructive way.
This position offers room for someone who wants to take responsibility and further develop themselves within project management and bioanalysis. You will work in an environment where scientific quality, client focus and collaboration come together, but where we also expect you to continue to look critically at how the work can be done smarter and better.
We are therefore not looking for someone who simply ticks all the boxes. We are looking for someone who demonstrates ownership, communicates clearly, knows themselves, remains curious and, when faced with a challenge, asks: “How can we make this work?”
Employment with ICON is contingent upon having the legal right to work in the country where the role is based.
