• Build a viable security system across IAM, infrastructure security, foundational SDLC/AppSec, related processes, and training;
• Diagnose the security landscape and design a company-specific security system;
• Own security risks and communicate with executive, development, and infrastructure teams;
• Make build-versus-buy decisions across security products and processes;
• Embed baseline security practices into engineering workflows;
• Define safe usage policies and guardrails for company-wide AI tool adoption;
• Hire the first security engineers and grow the security function with company needs.

• Have 8+ years of hands-on security experience with projects personally designed and implemented;
• Understand infrastructure and architecture through practical systems experience;
• Have proven experience hiring and deliberately building a team of 2+ people;
• Have built a security function from an unclear state into a working system;
• Have strong awareness of the security product market;
• Work through engineering teams with a partner-oriented style rather than relying on authority or blocking;
• Be comfortable building and leading a team as a core part of the role;
• Candidates focused mainly on policies, reports, and committees in recent years may not be a fit;
• Candidates who rely on hierarchy, mandatory sign-offs, and blocking by default may not be a fit;
• Candidates who replay the same security project regardless of company context may not be a fit;
• Nice to have: Experience with B2C products, SaaS platforms, gamedev, or mobile apps in companies of up to 1,000 people, experience working with external security providers, familiarity with common security frameworks, experience as the first or founding security hire.
