The Search Retrieval Team builds and maintains the core search engine that powers product discovery, utilizing semantic understanding, LLMs, and large-scale distributed systems to deliver a reliable and intelligent search platform.

• Lead the design and implementation of the next-generation, AI-driven search engine, integrating Neural Search with the Elasticsearch platform;
• Modernize and scale real-time data ingestion systems using Kafka and Flink to handle millions of updates;
• Develop core platform capabilities that enable teams to build personalized discovery experiences;
• Lead platform-wide infrastructure projects, including consolidating multi-lingual search indices and mitigating critical risks;
• Support system readiness for high-traffic events like Cyber Week.

• Extensive experience building large-scale search engines, preferably in e-commerce;
• Proven ability to design and build high-throughput data ingestion pipelines using Kafka and/or Flink or equivalent stream-processing frameworks;
• High proficiency in a JVM language (Java, Kotlin, or Scala);
• Deep understanding of distributed systems architecture, concurrency, and performance optimization;
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams;
• Nice to have: Expertise in Lucene, OpenSearch, Solr, or other distributed search systems.
