Devscribed builds software for a large computer hardware distributor that processes thousands of customer orders daily, managing the entire order lifecycle from purchase to warehouse fulfillment and shipping.
задачи
- Analyze and improve the existing MySQL database;
- Optimize database schemas and relationships;
- Design and implement effective indexing strategies;
- Optimize slow SQL queries and improve overall performance;
- Help evaluate and plan a potential migration from MySQL to PostgreSQL;
- Ensure database scalability, reliability, and maintainability;
- Design and build reliable ETL/ELT pipelines;
- Move operational data into the Data Lake and Amazon Redshift;
- Automate data processing workflows;
- Improve data quality, consistency, and governance;
- Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines;
- Build datasets that support sales analytics, warehouse operations, order fulfillment, shipping performance, inventory management, marketing analytics, pricing optimization, and customer purchasing trends;
- Prepare high-quality datasets to support future machine learning initiatives, including demand forecasting, product recommendations, dynamic pricing, shipping optimization, and advertising optimization;
- Guide the technical direction of the data platform while working closely with two junior Data Engineers;
- Mentor and support junior engineers through code reviews and technical guidance;
- Help break down large initiatives into manageable technical tasks;
- Establish best practices for SQL, data modeling, and data engineering;
- Review database and pipeline designs before implementation;
- Collaborate with the engineering team to prioritize work and define technical solutions;
- Promote clean, maintainable, and well-documented data infrastructure.
требования
- 3+ Years of experience working with relational databases;
- Strong SQL skills;
- Experience optimizing database performance;
- Solid understanding of indexes and query execution plans;
- Experience building or maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines;
- Experience with MySQL or PostgreSQL;
- Experience working with AWS or another major cloud platform;
- Good understanding of data modeling and database design;
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects;
- Nice to have: Amazon Redshift, PostgreSQL, AWS Glue, Python, Data Lakes, Change Data Capture (CDC), Apache Airflow, dbt, Amazon SageMaker, experience with warehouse, logistics, distribution, or e-commerce systems, experience mentoring engineers or leading technical initiatives.
