Data Engineer

White Circle is an AI safety company that develops a platform for the safety, reliability, and optimization of AI systems. The organization utilizes natural-language policies to automatically test, enforce, and improve AI model behavior at scale.

• Design, build, and maintain reliable production data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and orchestration;
• Model and structure data in the warehouse to ensure it is clean, documented, and useful for engineering, product, and research teams;
• Own data infrastructure, including schema design, migrations, performance, and cost management;
• Provide data support to GTM engineers by delivering curated, enriched company and account data;
• Integrate and route diverse data sources into the warehouse, including internal product events and third-party feeds;
• Build data-extraction jobs and web scraping as needed;
• Improve data quality, observability, and documentation;
• Diagnose and resolve pipeline issues;
• Execute data and infrastructure tasks to enhance system robustness.

• Solid experience as a data engineer building and running production pipelines and data warehouses;
• Strong proficiency in SQL and Python;
• Experience designing data models for collaborative use;
• Hands-on experience with a modern data stack, including relational databases, columnar/analytics stores, orchestration, and transformation tools;
• Experience with PostgreSQL or similar systems;
• Production mindset with a focus on reliability, migrations, performance, and cost;
• Ability to work independently and own problems end-to-end in an early-stage environment;
• Fluent English;
• Nice to have: Experience with streaming/eventing (e.g., Kafka), dataset versioning, dbt, modern ETL tools (Fivetran, Airbyte, dlt), AWS (Athena, Glue, S3), GTM/CRM data workflows, web-scraping, and systems languages like Rust.
