Backend Engineer (Backend Platform Team)

Frontify is the brand platform behind some of the world's leading organizations, including Microsoft, Telefónica, Bosch, Mercedes-Benz, and Kia. We help every team bring brands to life — with governance in one place, seamless workflows across the tools people already use, and a foundation that's ready for AI.

We're driven by collaboration, curiosity, and the belief that great work can happen anywhere. What began in St. Gallen has grown to London, New York, and beyond. Wherever you join us, you'll take ownership from day one, shape work that reaches global brands, and help redefine how brands work in the age of AI.

As a Senior Backend Engineer in our Backend Platform Team (BPT), you'll help shape the foundations that enable Frontify's product teams to build, scale, and deliver software with confidence.

We're on a transformation journey to create a backend platform that's invisible when it works, invaluable when it's needed, and a joy to build on. We're investing in reusable libraries, SDKs, APIs, shared components, and developer tooling to make development simpler, more reliable, and more scalable.

Our product teams are our customers. By focusing on strong software foundations, automation, simplicity, and developer experience, we're helping them work more autonomously and deliver value faster and more safely.

You'll play a key role in this evolution, improving our PHP ecosystem, strengthening CI/CD practices, and shaping the tools and processes that help engineers across Frontify focus on what they do best: building great products for our customers.

• Design, build, and maintain reusable backend libraries, SDKs, APIs, and shared services that support product teams across Frontify.

• Collaborate closely with product teams to understand recurring challenges and develop scalable solutions that benefit multiple teams.

• Strong experience in backend web application development using PHP, Java, Python, Go, or similar languages, and a willingness to use PHP as your primary language.
• Hands-on experience building reusable libraries, SDKs, APIs, frameworks, or internal developer tools.
• A solid understanding of software architecture, API design, automated testing, and backward compatibility, including GraphQL and REST.
• Familiarity with CI/CD practices, build automation, dependency management, and release processes.
• Working knowledge of containers and Kubernetes.
• A mindset that looks beyond individual features, with an interest in building scalable solutions that make life easier for engineering teams.
