Backend Developer

Field Materials is a startup building commerce and financial technology infrastructure for the construction industry. The company aims to digitize and democratize construction material purchasing.

• Build high-performance microservices and APIs;
• Build large, scalable, and performant production systems on modern cloud infrastructure using AWS;
• Build systems from the ground up;
• Develop products iteratively as specifications evolve with customer feedback;
• Design well-architected systems and code that are easy to understand, refactor, evolve, and inherit;
• Build highly scalable and low-latency systems;
• Take full ownership of assigned responsibilities.

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience;
• 2–5+ Years of production-level experience in Go, Java, Scala, or C++;
• Strong foundation in algorithms and data structures, including real-world use cases;
• Experience working with SQL databases;
• Experience with microservices, distributed systems, data serialization protocols such as protobufs, and stream processing such as Kafka or Kinesis;
• Nice to have: experience with Go, experience with GraphQL.
