Backend Developer

The company operates the largest B2C network for digital fuelling in Europe, enabling in-app and in-car payments at petrol stations across the continent. Its platform is event-driven and microservice-based.

• Integrate new cashier systems and external platforms into an event-driven microservice architecture;
• Advance the existing architecture using Node.js (TypeScript), Docker, PostgreSQL, Kafka, and emerging tools;
• Ensure reliable and fault-tolerant communication between internal systems and external platforms;
• Develop and optimise algorithms for efficient data parsing and serialisation across diverse data structures and formats;
• Proactively identify and resolve data transformation issues to improve system performance and adaptability;
• Write clean, maintainable code that supports the long-term quality and sustainability of the platform;
• Work in cross-functional agile teams with ownership from day one.

• Several years of hands-on backend development experience, preferably with Node.js/TypeScript;
• Experience designing scalable, high-performance distributed systems, including load balancing, caching, and database optimisation;
• Strong analytical thinking and ability to own problems end to end;
• Good written English;
• Nice to have: payment processing experience, PCI-DSS standards.
