Data Analyst

Preply is an ed-tech company that operates a global marketplace connecting learners with tutors for language education. The platform utilizes human-led and AI-enhanced learning to facilitate personalized educational experiences for users across 180 countries.

• Develop and formalize a strategic understanding of key value drivers including user behavior, marketplace dynamics, pricing, and unit economics;
• Define long-term measurement strategies for the domain, identifying structural growth levers and step-change opportunities;
• Lead deep analytical investigations into customer behavior and retention dynamics to reframe business questions into structured analyses;
• Own impact modeling and scenario analysis for major product initiatives to support planning through forecasting, trade-off analysis, and risk assessment;
• Define and govern key metrics within the domain to ensure alignment with company-level objectives;
• Design and execute analytics programs to test new ideas and measure their effectiveness;
• Act as a senior thought partner to business, operations, product, and engineering leaders to drive alignment and elevate analytical standards;
• Lead cross-domain analytical initiatives such as forecasting and performance optimization.

• Proven track record of materially influencing business, operations, or product strategy in complex environments;
• Expertise in strategic analytics, ensuring consistent KPI definitions and analytical standards across teams;
• Strong understanding of subscription and marketplace economics, including LTV modeling, cohort dynamics, and retention mechanics;
• Strong technical proficiency in SQL and Python with the ability to review work and set coding standards;
• Ability to influence Director and VP-level stakeholders and navigate conflicting incentives;
• Experience mentoring and technically guiding senior data analysts;
• Nice to have: Background in 2-sided marketplaces or digital businesses, experience leading advanced analytical approaches like forecasting and scenario modeling, proficiency with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Looker, or Power BI, and a Master's degree or PhD in a quantitative field.
