Business analyst in learning systems

The techno-functional IT Business Analyst will bridge business needs and technical delivery for the LMS Replacement Programme. The role will translate programme objectives and business processes into clear, testable and traceable requirements and solution designs, ensuring the selected solution is technically feasible, supportable and aligned to intended business outcomes and user experience.

• Assess and define business needs, problems and opportunities for improvement in line with programme outcomes and strategic goals.
• Select and tailor the analysis approach for each stage of the programme, considering complexity, risk, assumptions, constraints and dependencies.
• Define and maintain business analysis plans, scope boundaries, deliverables and analysis milestones aligned to the integrated programme plan.
• Plan and manage own activities to meet agreed deliverables, quality standards and deadlines.
• Identify and analyse stakeholders across Learning, HR, business functions, IT, Quality and implementation partners.
• Build effective working relationships and adapt engagement to stakeholder needs, influence and decision rights.
• Plan and facilitate workshops, interviews and working sessions to elicit, validate and prioritise requirements and decisions.
• Contribute to stakeholder, communication and change plans by identifying impacts, concerns, readiness needs and adoption dependencies.
• Own and maintain the requirements management approach, including elicitation, documentation, prioritisation, approvals, traceability, change control and scope impact assessment.
• Lead the definition, documentation, validation and lifecycle management of business and technical requirements through design, build, testing and acceptance.
• Document current and future-state processes, user journeys, business rules, configuration needs, data needs and acceptance criteria.
• Assess solution options with technical teams and implementation partners, ensuring designs are feasible, supportable and aligned to business needs.
• Maintain end-to-end traceability from business objectives and requirements through solution design, testing, validation and acceptance.
• Respond effectively to changing priorities, assess impacts and recommend corrective actions.
• Analyse vendor and platform capabilities and determine where standard functionality, configuration or process change is appropriate.
• Define integration requirements, interface behaviours, source and target systems, error-handling expectations and non-functional requirements in partnership with technical teams.
• Define security and access requirements and support their translation into solution design and test coverage.
• Support configuration playback and design reviews, challenge gaps and assumptions, and document decisions, impacts and follow-up actions.
• Develop and maintain configuration workbooks, interface requirements, data mapping specifications, traceability artefacts and decision logs.
• Review detailed configuration and integration designs with implementation partners, resolving gaps, assumptions, constraints and dependencies.
• Support data profiling, mapping, transformation and reconciliation activities by clarifying business meaning, ownership and acceptance rules.
• Assess downstream impacts of configuration or design changes across integrations, data, validation, testing, support and business processes.
• Ensure requirements and associated evidence are complete, controlled, approved and suitable for a validated GxP delivery environment.
• Partner with Quality, Validation and Test leads to support validation planning, traceability, risk-based testing and inspection-ready evidence.
• Define and support test scenarios, acceptance criteria and business testing coverage across configured functionality, integrations, data migration and access controls.

• Degree in a relevant discipline or formal certification in business analysis practice, or equivalent practical experience.
• Substantial hands-on techno-functional business analysis experience within a global organisation, including significant transformation or enterprise SaaS programmes.
• Proven experience selecting and applying appropriate business analysis approaches based on complexity, risk, assumptions, constraints and dependencies.
• Advanced requirements elicitation and management skills, including requirements planning, prioritisation, approval, traceability, change control, testing and validation.
• Ability to translate business needs into clear functional and non-functional requirements covering process, configuration, integration, data, security, access, user experience and acceptance criteria.
• Strong stakeholder engagement, facilitation, presentation, communication, negotiation and influencing skills, including work with senior stakeholders.
• Experience analysing current and future-state processes, identifying capability gaps and shaping practical improvement opportunities.
• Experience supporting solution evaluation, business readiness and benefits definition and realisation.
• Experience working effectively in virtual, geographically dispersed and matrix teams.
• Strong planning, organisation and personal accountability for high-quality analytical deliverables and deadlines.
• Demonstrated ability to use AI-enabled tools and automation responsibly to improve analysis productivity, insight, requirements quality and decision making.

Desirable, not essential; HR technology or learning ecosystem transformation experience, including familiarity with platforms such as Workday HCM, payroll, talent acquisition or learning SaaS products; Experience working in a pharmaceutical, life sciences or other regulated environment; Practical experience of Agile, Waterfall or hybrid delivery approaches; Lean Six Sigma training or practical process improvement experience; User-centred design experience across user experience, user interface and business process design; Business analysis certification such as IIBA, BCS or equivalent
