You will start by setting the direction. You will define a planning strategy that covers all the activities needed to manage the project well. You will choose the delivery approach that fits best, whether that is waterfall, agile or a hybrid. You will align with stakeholders on the scope and build a schedule that reflects it.
Next, you will define the budget, resources, timelines and work allocation together with your stakeholders. You will plan, coordinate and deliver your projects within the agreed time, scope, cost and quality. Along the way, you will prioritize tasks, keep project plans and charters up to date, and keep everyone informed of progress.
You will create the key project documents with your stakeholders. These include scope, acceptance criteria, financials, schedules and risk plans. You will guide the work through its phases and stage-gates, so resources are used efficiently and each milestone is met. You will make sure every activity follows company, program and IS procedures, as well as quality and safety standards.
Risk management will be part of your daily routine. You will identify, mitigate and monitor risks, issues and decisions, and you will spot opportunities and act on them. You will draw on your experience to anticipate contingencies and choose the best way forward. You will track progress, costs and resources, and address variances early.
You will also be the trusted contact and escalation point for your stakeholders. You will manage expectations, build strong relationships and keep projects aligned as strategies evolve. You will prepare and drive project and budget approvals, and you will define the governance structures and committees that support them. You will report on performance against plans and business outcomes, and you will keep a steady focus on realizing business value through delivery and implementation.
When a project closes, you will make sure the handover is smooth and capture lessons learned, so the next project benefits from them. Throughout, you will follow sound methodology, ABB directives and program management standards.
