Chief accountant in aviation

Job summary: We are looking for an experienced Chief Accountant to oversee the company’s accounting operations, ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, maintain compliance with applicable accounting standards and Kazakhstan legislation, and coordinate accounting activities across the Revenue, Bank & Expenses, Fixed Assets, and Archive functions.

• Oversee the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of accounting records and financial reporting.
• Ensure compliance with IFRS, applicable Kazakhstan accounting legislation, and internal company policies.
• Coordinate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities.
• Review key reconciliations, accounting entries, and supporting documentation.
• Oversee revenue accounting processes, including revenue recognition, reconciliation, and reporting.
• Ensure the completeness and accuracy of revenue records and timely identification of discrepancies.
• Monitor compliance with approved accounting procedures and revenue-related controls.
• Oversee bank transactions, bank reconciliations, accounts payable, and expense accounting.
• Ensure accurate recording of payments, expenses, and financial transactions.
• Monitor compliance with payment procedures, approval limits, and internal controls.
• Oversee fixed asset accounting, including capitalization, depreciation, transfers, disposals, and reconciliation.
• Oversee the proper storage, classification, retention, and retrieval of accounting and financial documents.
• Ensure compliance with statutory document retention requirements and internal archiving procedures.
• Maintain document confidentiality, traceability, and accessibility for audits and inspections.
• Maintain effective accounting controls and segregation of duties across the supervised functions.
• Coordinate internal and external audit requests and ensure timely provision of supporting documentation.
• Monitor identified accounting risks and implement corrective actions.
• Manage and develop the Heads of Revenue, Bank & Expenses, Fixed Assets, and Archive.
• Set performance objectives, monitor KPIs, and ensure effective workload distribution.
• Standardize accounting procedures and promote continuous process improvement.
• Ensure compliance with applicable tax legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
• Oversee the accurate calculation, reporting, and timely payment of taxes and other mandatory payments.
• Ensure timely preparation and submission of tax returns and related documentation.
• Monitor tax risks, changes in tax legislation, and implementation of necessary adjustments.
• Coordinate tax audits and inquiries from tax authorities.

• Higher education in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
• Significant experience in accounting, financial reporting, and accounting operations management.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and Kazakhstan accounting and tax legislation.
• Experience managing accounting teams and coordinating multiple accounting functions.
• Experience with ERP/accounting systems, preferably Oracle.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and leadership skills.
• A valid Professional Accountant Certificate recognized in the Republic of Kazakhstan is required.
