platform engineer for Windows infrastructure

The team improves the reliability, visibility, and automation of large-scale Windows infrastructure through platform automation, operational tooling, monitoring, and process optimisation.

• Design, develop, and maintain automation solutions for Windows server administration and operational processes;
• Improve platform observability through monitoring, logging, and alerting capabilities;
• Automate repetitive operational tasks using PowerShell and other automation technologies;
• Collaborate with SRE, Infrastructure, and Platform Engineering teams to improve service reliability and operational excellence;
• Develop dashboards and reporting that provide operational visibility and actionable insights;
• Identify opportunities to streamline operational processes and eliminate manual intervention;
• Support incident response by improving diagnostic tooling and automation;
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on platform stability, resilience, and performance;
• Maintain documentation and automation standards across the Windows estate.

• Strong experience administering enterprise Windows Server environments;
• Excellent PowerShell scripting and Windows automation skills;
• Experience building and maintaining infrastructure automation solutions;
• Strong understanding of observability principles, including monitoring, logging, and alerting;
• Experience with enterprise monitoring and observability platforms;
• Knowledge of operational process automation and workflow optimisation;
• Familiarity with infrastructure management and configuration tools;
• Experience working within SRE, Infrastructure Engineering, or Platform Operations teams;
• Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills;
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across technical teams;
• A proactive approach to reducing manual effort through automation;
• Passion for improving operational visibility and platform health;
• Ability to collaborate effectively across Infrastructure, SRE, and Engineering teams;
• Continuous improvement mindset focused on reliability, scalability, and operational excellence;
• Nice to have: Infrastructure as Code with Terraform, Ansible, or similar; Azure or AWS infrastructure; CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices; Windows clustering, Active Directory, and enterprise networking; ITSM platforms such as ServiceNow; cloud-native monitoring and observability technologies.

• Contract for 6 to 12 months with extensions;
• Must be able to work BST time zone.
