Infrastructure Engineer

Wintermute is an algorithmic trading company specialising in digital assets. It provides liquidity across cryptocurrency exchanges and trading platforms, OTC trading solutions, and support for blockchain projects and traditional financial institutions entering crypto. Its Wintermute Ventures arm invests in early-stage DeFi projects.

• Maintain, optimize, and scale a mixed physical and virtual computing environment
• Own and advance server and network infrastructure
• Provide high-level technical support for systems
• Develop and deploy automation solutions, particularly in Python
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and improve networks, routing protocols, and computing systems
• Support the scaling of systems in collaboration with senior engineers

• At least 5 years of experience in systems administration, network infrastructure engineering, or a related field
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot data centre connectivity and hardware issues
• Solid understanding of data centre connectivity, structured cabling, TCP/IP, IPv4/IPv6, and subnetting
• Hands-on experience configuring, managing, and troubleshooting Cisco switches, such as Catalyst or Nexus
• Practical knowledge of server hardware, network appliances, and computer internals
• Ability to troubleshoot Linux server OS, enterprise applications, and network infrastructure issues
• Experience diagnosing network performance issues, packet loss, and latency using Wireshark, tcpdump, or traceroute
• Ability to analyze and resolve complex hardware failures, performance bottlenecks, and component issues
• Familiarity and hands-on experience with Git workflows
• Ability to collaborate on mission-critical production systems and back-office infrastructure
• Experience with hardware and network monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or SNMP, and performance tuning
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Professional and clear communication in technical collaboration, inquiries, and status updates
• Ability to work weekend and evening shifts and provide out-of-business-hours support when required for deployments, critical incidents, or maintenance windows
