devops engineer for connected vehicle infrastructure

Rivian and Volkswagen Group Technologies is a joint venture between Rivian and Volkswagen Group that develops operating systems, zonal controllers, cloud and connectivity solutions for electric and software-defined vehicles. • Design and build scalable, fault-tolerant CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure patterns, selecting tools and architectures aligned with product and reliability goals;
• Own the operational health of services, define SLOs and SLIs, improve MTTR, and implement incident response and on-call practices;
• Lead improvements to build systems, containerization with Docker and Kubernetes, and deployment tooling, integrating third-party and open-source components where appropriate;
• Collaborate with developers, QA, Product and Security to align delivery pipelines with product roadmaps while balancing quality, speed and risk;
• Implement and champion secure-by-default configurations, secrets management, compliance automation and robust SDLC testing gates;
• Drive initiatives that reduce toil, improve developer productivity, and enhance observability and reliability across the team;
• Share learnings through documentation and mentoring.

• 4–6+ Years of DevOps, SRE or related engineering experience owning production services and pipelines;
• Deep expertise in at least one major cloud provider and a container orchestration platform such as Kubernetes;
• Strong skills in infrastructure-as-code and configuration management;
• Proven experience designing and operating CI/CD pipelines and build systems at scale, such as GitLab CI, Jenkins, Bazel or Gradle;
• Proficiency with observability tooling such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Datadog or OpenTelemetry;
• Ability to use metrics, logs and traces to drive operational decisions;
• Ability to manage assignments with multiple inputs and deliverables, understand connections across workstreams, and lead cross-functional collaboration;
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to influence peers, support change and facilitate thoughtful discussions in complex technical settings.
