Developer Platform Engineer for developer platforms

Synthesia develops an AI video platform for business and products that enhance visual communication and enterprise skill development. Its platform is used by over 90% of the Fortune 100.

• Own architectural decisions for how features are built, safely released to customers, and supported long-term;
• Mentor engineers and embed technical practices through code reviews and design partnerships;
• Lead multi-quarter projects, break complex problems into milestones, define success criteria, make trade-offs, and escalate when needed;
• Partner with leadership to shape the roadmap and technical strategy, challenge requirements, propose alternatives, and influence priorities;
• Own the operational health of systems and use data to guide iteration, maintenance, and deprecation;
• Set the technical direction for the area, anticipate challenges 12+ months ahead, propose scalable solutions, and build engineering capabilities.

• At least seven years of software engineering experience, including at least 2–3 years at senior/staff level;
• Hands-on experience building and operating developer platforms, CI/CD systems, observability and metrics infrastructure, code quality automation, testing infrastructure, and/or developer tooling;
• Experience shipping infrastructure or tooling that measurably improved developer velocity or reduced cognitive load;
• Experience leading adoption of AI-powered developer tools or capabilities across an engineering organization;
• Experience in a high-performing engineering organization, such as a scale-up or established company, and understanding of how infrastructure choices affect team velocity and product quality;
• Experience integrating third-party services, APIs, SaaS tools, or external platforms into internal systems, with attention to reliability, security, user experience, and operational constraints at scale;
• Understanding that platform and infrastructure work directly enables commercial outcomes;
• Experience owning large technical areas end-to-end.

• Salary starts at EUR/GBP/CHF 130.000 base + equity (RSUs);
• 25 Days of leave plus local holidays; no additional paid or unpaid leave is possible;
• Visa sponsorship is available only for people already in a UK/EU country who need support; relocation is not provided;
• Full-time employment only; contractors are not possible. Employment is usually through OysterHR;
• Work locations: UK, Germany, Switzerland, or Ireland; remote work in other European locations may be supported subject to compliance and right-to-work checks.
