rust developer for E2EE messaging

BWI GmbH provides IT operations and digitalization services for the German Armed Forces. The BundesMessenger product delivers scalable end-to-end encrypted messaging through a multi-platform client SDK and backend components.

• Work on the multi-platform client SDK and existing and new backend components for scalable and, where possible, error-free end-to-end encrypted messaging;
• Contribute to the future direction through feature and architecture proposals, proactive collaboration, and communication;
• Support colleagues in understanding Rust-specific concepts and porting from other programming languages;
• Maintain and improve the end-to-end process from linting, automated testing, and optimized compilation to containerizing Rust artifacts in CI/CD systems;
• Create documentation and unit and integration tests;
• Conduct complex smoke and load tests.

• Completed university degree or comparable IT-related training;
• At least 3 years of Rust experience with the ability to deliberately apply the language's advantages;
• At least 5 years of professional software development experience;
• Experience working in agile development teams;
• Strong understanding of typical security risks, such as OWASP, and their prevention;
• Experience developing high-performance web services and APIs;
• Familiarity with cryptographic encryption methods in this context;
• Experience with automated testing and creating and releasing production-ready Rust artifacts in at least one CI/CD framework;
• Creative and flexible mindset, intrinsic motivation to implement own ideas, and a strong hands-on mentality;
• Business-fluent German, written and spoken;
• Very good English skills;
• Nice to have: Experience with client SDKs and multi-platform frameworks such as uniffi-rs or Tauri, understanding of Kubernetes-based application architectures.

• Base compensation ranges from 71.000 € to 104.040 €, depending on responsibilities, experience, and competencies;
