Python developer for annotation SDKs

We’re looking for a Senior Python Developer to take ownership of our Python SDK and APIs and make them powerful, consistent, and easy to use. In this role, you’ll work on a widely used open-source product with a large and active user base. You’ll communicate directly with customers and community members, understand how they use CVAT in real-world workflows, and turn their needs into improvements to our SDK and APIs.

• Own and evolve CVAT’s Python SDK, making it intuitive, reliable, and effective for real-world workflows.
• Design and develop high-level SDK abstractions for common user workflows, making complex operations simple and intuitive.
• Work directly with customers and open-source users to understand their workflows, pain points, and requirements, and turn that feedback into SDK improvements.
• Evolve CVAT’s APIs where needed to enable better SDK design and more consistent user workflows.
• Own the quality of the SDK, including testing, backward compatibility, release processes, and cross-platform support.
• Create clear documentation, examples, and tutorials that help users adopt the SDK and solve common tasks quickly.
• Identify gaps and opportunities in the SDK proactively, and drive improvements from idea to release.
• Engage with the open-source community by reviewing issues and contributions, discussing proposed changes, and incorporating feedback into the SDK roadmap.

• Strong experience building and maintaining Python SDKs or libraries, ideally with public usage or adoption.
• Strong Python API and library design skills, with an understanding of what makes an SDK intuitive, consistent, and maintainable.
• Solid understanding of HTTP APIs, OpenAPI, authentication, API versioning, and backward compatibility.
• Experience with Python packaging, dependency management, and publishing packages to PyPI.
• Experience designing and maintaining stable public interfaces where changes need to be made carefully and deliberately.
• Ability to work independently, make technical decisions, and take ownership of an area from identifying a problem through delivering and maintaining the solution.
• Experience writing clear developer documentation, examples, and tutorials.
• Strong Git/GitHub development practices, including code reviews, automated testing, and CI/CD.
• Experience developing and testing Python software across Linux, macOS, and Windows.
• English proficiency, both written and spoken (B2 or higher).
