• Own the design, development, and operation of Python backend services and APIs;
• Turn product requirements into technical designs, plans, and trade-off decisions;
• Lead architecture discussions and help define engineering standards and best practices;
• Design database schemas and optimize PostgreSQL queries and indexes for growing datasets;
• Build and scale background jobs, data pipelines, and automation workflows using Celery, message brokers, and asyncio;
• Integrate third-party services, payment providers, external APIs, and LLM-based features;
• Maintain production system performance, security, and observability, and lead root-cause analysis;
• Review code and mentor colleagues through constructive feedback;
• Document systems and decisions to share knowledge across the team.

• 5+ Years of professional experience building and running production systems in Python;
• Hands-on expertise with Django or FastAPI;
• Strong PostgreSQL and SQL skills, including query optimization, indexing, and schema design at scale;
• Experience designing and maintaining REST APIs used by real products;
• Experience with asynchronous processing using asyncio, Celery, or message queues;
• Production experience with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and AWS or GCP;
• Strong testing discipline with pytest, type checking, and linting;
• Track record of owning services end to end, from design through deployment, monitoring, and incident handling;
• Sound system design skills and judgment to choose simple solutions over clever ones;
• Clear written and spoken English;
• Self-directed working style;
• Nice to have: Flask, LLM integrations, RAG pipelines, vector databases, Redis, caching strategies, high-throughput systems, web application security (OWASP, auth, secrets management), large datasets, data processing pipelines, JavaScript/TypeScript, React, startup or small product team experience, mentoring developers or acting as technical lead on a project.
