The team develops maritime geospatial analytics for an international scientific and technology centre focused on maritime research.

• Design and build production-grade APIs and microservices in Python;
• Model the domain using Domain Driven Design, including bounded contexts, aggregates, repositories, domain services, and shared language;
• Integrate Neo4j for graph-centred work, including Cypher query optimisation and graph data modelling;
• Build data engineering and machine learning workflows on Databricks;
• Work with geospatial and temporal data, including spatial indexing, time series, geospatial standards, and tools;
• Keep services reliable, fast, and secure;
• Monitor services after deployment;
• Lead features end to end, from technical discovery and design through implementation, testing, deployment, and runtime monitoring;
• Review code;
• Mentor colleagues;
• Contribute to architectural decisions.

• Advanced Python, including clean idiomatic code, virtual environments, packaging, type hints, and async/await;
• Production experience with FastAPI and async best practices;
• Solid object-oriented design skills and knowledge of factory, strategy, repository, and dependency injection patterns;
• Strong practical Domain Driven Design experience, including event-driven domain modelling;
• Experience designing RESTful APIs, including resource modelling, versioning, error handling, pagination, and OpenAPI;
• Experience with event-driven systems such as Kafka, MQTT, or Azure Event Hubs, including publish and subscribe and asynchronous task processing;
• Strong SQL skills with PostgreSQL or SQL Server;
• Strong hands-on experience with Neo4j;
• Experience with Docker and a working understanding of Kubernetes;
• Comfort with the Linux command line;
• Experience with testing and CI/CD, including pytest, TDD, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps;
• Knowledge of secure coding, OWASP Top 10, OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, and JWT;
• Excellent written and spoken English in an international setting;
• Nice to have: Microsoft Azure, Entra ID, Azure DevOps, Key Vault, structured logging, Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry tracing.

• The engagement runs from the beginning of September to the end of December.
