node.js developer networking infrastructure

Bright Data develops tools for collecting data from the open web. Its Network team builds and operates core backend services powering the company’s networking infrastructure, with a focus on networking, security, performance, reliability, and scale.

• Develop features end to end, from design and implementation through production rollout and ongoing improvements;
• Build and maintain high-scale backend services focused on performance, reliability, and security;
• Participate in system design and architecture planning for scalable and maintainable solutions;
• Solve networking challenges involving traffic flows, proxy behavior, request/response handling, and protocol-level edge cases;
• Investigate and troubleshoot complex networking issues using Wireshark and similar packet inspection and debugging tools;
• Write high-quality, maintainable code with appropriate test coverage;
• Participate actively in code reviews;
• Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to deliver impactful solutions;
• Learn continuously and apply backend engineering and networking best practices.

• 3+ Years of hands-on software engineering experience, including 2+ years focused on backend JavaScript / Node.js development;
• Very good understanding of the Node.js event loop, including I/O versus CPU-bound workloads, async patterns, blocking pitfalls, and memory/GC considerations;
• Proven experience building and operating production backend services;
• Strong understanding of network protocols and security, including TCP/IP/UDP, DNS, HTTP1/2/3, TLS, and WebSockets;
• Experience with databases and caching layers such as MongoDB and Redis;
• Familiarity with Kubernetes and containerized deployments;
• Proficiency in system design fundamentals, including APIs, scalability, performance, reliability, and fault tolerance;
• Ability to learn quickly and work independently and as part of a team;
• Proficiency in English with strong written and verbal communication skills;
• Nice to have: Experience with AWS and SaaS environments, production networking issue debugging, observability tooling, and incident response/on-call.
