ml engineer for Life Sciences

Faculty develops and deploys responsible AI solutions that help global customers improve performance. Its Life Sciences team builds AI solutions to optimise the research and commercialisation of life-changing therapies, partnering with pharmaceutical companies, academic research centres, and MedTech start-ups to address healthcare challenges.

• Set the technical direction for complex ML and software projects, balance trade-offs, and guide team priorities;
• Architect, implement, and maintain reliable, scalable ML and software systems, and justify key architectural decisions;
• Define project problems, develop roadmaps, and oversee delivery across multiple workstreams in ill-defined, high-risk environments;
• Drive the development of shared resources and libraries across the organisation and guide other engineers in contributing to them;
• Lead hiring processes, make informed selection decisions, and mentor multiple individuals to foster team growth;
• Develop and execute recommendations for adopting new technologies, tools, and ways of working;
• Act as a technical expert and coach for customers, estimate large workstreams, and defend the rationale to stakeholders.

• Demonstrate deep expertise in particular technical topics and broad knowledge for solving complex problems;
• Have strong software engineering skills in Python and at least one compiled or strongly typed language, such as Go, Java, Rust, or TypeScript;
• Build robust, production-grade systems;
• Be an expert in at least one major Cloud Solution Provider, such as Azure, GCP, or AWS;
• Have led teams building full-stack web applications;
• Have hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes;
• Successfully manage and coach a team of engineers and set team-wide development goals;
• Take ownership of successful project outcomes;
• Communicate effectively with customers, technical teams, and non-technical stakeholders;
