Java backend engineer in microservices

We are a Portuguese technology services company bringing together multidisciplinary professionals with solid experience in consulting, infrastructure management, systems and database administration, platform integration, Business Intelligence and application development. We are looking for Java Back-End and Full Stack (React and Java) engineers at different seniority levels, from Junior to Senior and Lead, who enjoy working in structured environments and contributing to high-quality deliveries.

• Design, develop and maintain Java microservices and full-stack features.
• Build front-end components in React.js and follow modern front-end engineering standards.
• Implement and document RESTful and GraphQL APIs using OpenAPI guidelines.
• Integrate IAM/SSO flows (OIDC, Okta, Keycloak) and contribute to secure authentication standards
• Work with event-driven architectures using messaging technologies (e.g., SQS, Solace).
• Write unit and integration tests and ensure quality through automated pipelines.
• Take part in agile ceremonies and contribute to sprint deliveries.
• Maintain front-end dependencies and follow performance and security best practices.
• Collaborate with architects and senior engineers on design decisions and technical roadmaps.
• Produce technical documentation and procedure manuals (runbooks), and support knowledge sharing within the squad.
• Mentor junior engineers.
• Lead architectural discussions and define engineering standards (for lead roles).

• These positions are exclusively for candidates living in Portugal.
• Experience with Java, Spring, microservices and API development.
• Experience with React.js and modern front-end standards.
• Knowledge of IAM/SSO (OIDC, Okta, Keycloak) is highly valued — mandatory for senior roles.
• Familiarity with event-driven systems, message queues and cloud-native patterns.
• Good understanding of testing, code quality, security and CI/CD pipelines.
• Ability to work collaboratively with technical and business teams.
• Strong communication skills and a continuous improvement mindset.
• English and Portuguese at C1 level.

• Hybrid working arrangement, 3 days per week in the office.
