Head of Engineering

Unimatch Lab is an AI-agent-run venture builder from San Francisco. Its portfolio includes seven products across Future of Work, Longevity, Kids Universe, and Education.

• Own engineering across the holding, serving as the technical gate for technical leads, product CTOs, engineers, and infrastructure
• Establish the development system, including planning, backlog, reporting, and metrics, to make delivery transparent and forecastable
• Make the workflow usable across all portfolio products
• Prioritize, track, and close parallel workstreams while maintaining an overview
• Build the engineering organization by hiring, structuring squads and cross-functional teams, and assigning ownership
• Design and run the engineering compensation model
• Manage daily tracking of work in progress, blockers, shipped work, and pending work
• Shape the organization to support team growth without manually managing every thread
• Set and maintain shared engineering standards for planning, reviewing, and shipping work across portfolio products
• Make architecture trade-off decisions at holding level, including stack, patterns, and hardware, memory, and model architecture constraints
• Unblock production problems hands-on by prototyping, working with Kubernetes, debugging, and shipping
• Take the AI-agent orchestration architecture from design to production
• Own the engineering of agent pipelines, harnesses, and wrappers as a production system

• Experience building and running engineering at scale across several products and teams of tens of people, including from scratch
• Deep AI background covering LLMs, AI-pipeline orchestration, architectures and their limits, hardware, memory, transformer math, and RL
• Background spanning DevOps through ML
• Experience across the full startup cycle: idea, PMF, funding rounds, and growth
• STEM or engineering degree
• Fluent English and written and spoken Russian
• Ability to manage many parallel workstreams, work with large datasets, and ship hands-on, including prototypes, Kubernetes work, and production debugging
• Experience in organizational management, daily tracking, and hiring; strong engineers choose to work with you, and you think in product and business terms, not only code
