frontend developer for medical education

AMBOSS is a learning and clinical decision support tool that helps physicians acquire and apply scientific knowledge, supporting medical education and better healthcare decisions worldwide.

• Lead frontend engineering projects within the Educator Experience and Course Experience teams from conception to completion;
• Set best practices for code health, testing, accessibility, and maintainability, and drive their adoption across the team;
• Use agentic AI tools such as Claude Code across the development lifecycle and help the team use them effectively;
• Collaborate with Product and Design to shape requirements and turn ambiguous ideas into well-scoped technical plans;
• Address ad hoc requests from customer support channels;
• Mentor engineers and share knowledge within the AMBOSS community.

• Deep hands-on expertise with modern JavaScript, TypeScript, and React;
• Proven experience integrating AI coding agents such as Claude Code or similar tools into production work;
• Experience across the full development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, system design, coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance;
• Experience with shared design systems, component libraries, and frontend API integrations using GraphQL and/or REST;
• Deep understanding of accessibility and WCAG guidelines;
• Expertise in frontend performance optimization, including bundle sizes, tree-shaking, lazy loading, and architectural performance impacts;
• Experience with component testing strategies, including unit, integration, and visual regression testing;
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English;
• Curiosity about process optimization and learning domain specifics;
• Analytical, proactive, initiative-taking, and solution-oriented mindset;
• Strong sense of ownership, with experience driving topics end-to-end and mentoring others.
