data engineer for cyber defence

The division designs and implements defence solutions and digital transformation projects, with a focus on national security and cyber defence.

• Design, develop, test and support data collection, data integration and ETL applications;
• Make information and data available to key client stakeholders and technical interfaces;
• Model data requirements, data sources and data flows to structure programmes of work;
• Define how and where data is created, mastered and destroyed to control the lifecycle of corporate data assets;
• Use product categories for collecting, integrating, storing, visualising and governing data and metadata;
• Define metadata to provide searchability and governance, including Records Management, for unstructured data.

• Experience in Data Engineering, Analysis or Science;
• Solid understanding of programming languages and experience applying them in previous roles;
• Experience using Data Engineering and ETL tools, including Python and Big Data applications;
• Demonstrable ability to work with previously used technologies, adapt and learn;
• Good understanding of Open Source software for Data Engineering;
• Ability to evaluate platforms against products, analyse options and recommend solutions for customer problems;
• Knowledge of database concepts, including unstructured, NoSQL and Big Data platforms;
• Knowledge of object and data modelling techniques;
• Must hold an active eDV before applying;
• Must achieve at least Baseline Personnel Security Standard;
• Many roles require 5 to 10 years of continuous residency in the UK depending on the required vetting level;
• Nice to have: Previous experience in Cyber Security and Intelligence.
