Data engineer

As a Data Engineer, you design, build and operate scalable data solutions for analytics, AI and business-critical applications. You develop reliable data pipelines, data products and platform capabilities using cloud-native engineering, automation and infrastructure as code. You work with architects, product owners, engineers and business stakeholders to translate needs into secure, maintainable solutions that meet platform, governance and operational standards.

• Design, develop, test and maintain scalable batch and streaming data pipelines, datasets, data models and data products.
• Build cloud-native data solutions on Azure using Databricks, Data Lake Storage, Event Hubs, Spark and Delta Lake.
• Provision and manage platform infrastructure with Terraform, and build automated deployment pipelines in Azure DevOps.
• Apply software engineering practices for testing, version control, code quality, documentation and automation.
• Implement monitoring, observability and operational controls to improve reliability, performance, scalability and cost efficiency.
• Embed data quality, metadata, governance, security and production-readiness requirements in solutions.
• Investigate production issues, perform root-cause analysis and implement preventive improvements.
• Work with product and technical stakeholders to translate business and analytical needs into scalable solutions.
• Contribute to agile delivery, code reviews, knowledge sharing, proofs of concept and continuous platform improvement.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Engineering or a related field.
• At least 4 years of experience in data engineering, software engineering or a comparable role.
• Demonstrated experience designing, building and operating large-scale data platforms or cloud-based data solutions.
• Strong SQL, data modelling and data pipeline development skills.
• Hands-on experience with Azure Databricks, Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Event Hubs, Apache Spark or Spark Streaming, Delta Lake and lakehouse architectures.
• Strong experience with Azure infrastructure and cloud-native data platforms.
• Practical experience with Terraform and infrastructure as code.
• Experience developing CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps.
• Proficiency in Python and sound software engineering practices.
• Understanding of cloud security, observability, reliability and operational best practices.
• Clear communicator and effective collaborator in cross-functional agile teams.
• Proactive, ownership-driven and comfortable solving complex technical problems.
• Committed to automation, continuous improvement and engineering excellence.
• Fluent in English.

• Gross monthly salary: €1,600 – €1,900
