COBOL developer for core banking systems

We are seeking a skilled AS400 COBOL Developer to design, develop, and support applications on the IBM i (AS400) platform. You will focus on maintaining and enhancing business critical systems while ensuring reliability, performance, and data integrity in a production environment. You will be contributing to a system that supports core business operations, handling high volume transaction processing and batch workloads. The project emphasizes stability, scalability, and continuous improvement of legacy applications while integrating with modern systems.

• Develop and maintain COBOL applications on the IBM i platform
• Analyze business and functional requirements and translate them into technical solutions
• Write, test, and debug code to support new and existing functionality
• Investigate and resolve production issues to ensure system stability
• Work with DB2 400 databases, including writing and optimizing SQL queries
• Manage and support batch processing and job scheduling activities
• Monitor system performance and implement improvements where needed
• Collaborate with analysts, QA, and other stakeholders to deliver reliable solutions
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation aligned with development standards

• Strong hands-on experience with COBOL programming
• Proven experience working on IBM i (AS400) systems
• Solid understanding of DB2/400 and SQL
• Experience with batch jobs and transaction processing systems
• Familiarity with debugging and performance tuning on AS400
• Experience in production support environments
• Basic knowledge of RPG or CL
• Familiarity with system integration and data interfaces
