backend developer for industrial IoT

DATATRONiQ is a German deep-tech startup focused on Industrial IoT and Edge AI. Its platform collects telemetry from modern industrial machinery, processes data in real time, supports anomaly and quality models, and delivers results to frontends and customers through edge and cloud services.

• Develop and deploy Go microservices that collect, process, and redistribute industrial telemetry;
• Maintain and develop Kubernetes Operators, from API design and reconciliation loops to production rollout;
• Ensure stability and performance through tests, benchmarks, monitoring, and tracing;
• Collaborate with frontend, ML, and DevOps teams on API specifications, interface versions, and roadmap decisions;
• Automate manual processes through tooling, scripts, and CI pipelines;
• Contribute to technical decisions on architecture, libraries, and build tooling;
• Introduce new development practices to the team.

• Have at least three years of practical Go experience in service architectures;
• Deploy own services and Operators on Kubernetes;
• Read logs and metrics and support post-mortem analyses;
• Design professional APIs using idiomatic REST and Protobuf;
• Document and version APIs while maintaining backward compatibility;
• Understand software design trade-offs involving queues and caches;
• Have very good spoken and written English;
• Nice to have: experience with time series, stream processing, or IoT protocols such as OPC-UA and MQTT; curiosity about AI/ML in service contexts, including model inference, retrieval, and feature pipelines.

• Full end-to-end responsibility from API design and implementation to operation on Kubernetes;
• The team independently decides on architecture, tooling, and test coverage;
• Agentic tools such as Codex and Claude Code are used in daily work;
• The role is predominantly on-site in Stuttgart, Ulm, or Berlin;
• Projects serve customers worldwide, from mid-sized manufacturers to DAX corporations;
• Industrial-IoT projects in the manufacturing sector;
• No contact from recruitment agencies or headhunters.
