AI engineer in the energy sector

As an AI Engineer, you develop and integrate AI models across various disciplines, including classical machine learning, regression and/or computer vision. In this role, you are responsible for building and ensuring the quality of tailored, modern AI models for complex AI use cases in the energy sector.

• Develop, train and evaluate machine learning models, e.g. for regression, classification, time series forecasting and anomaly detection, as well as for image and video analysis in different application areas
• Analyze, prepare and ensure the quality of large, heterogeneous datasets (e.g. sensor, image and operational data), with a focus on traceability and robust modeling
• Systematically evaluate models (e.g. cross-validation, appropriate performance metrics, robustness and sensitivity analyses) and jointly review the results with the team
• Document models, data assumptions, results and limitations to ensure transparency, traceability and maintainability
• Deploy and provide AI solutions in production environments in close collaboration with AI Integration Engineers and IT Operations, including the continuous further development of existing solutions

• Completed university degree in a relevant field (e.g. computer science, mathematics, engineering, physics, statistics, data science) or a comparable qualification with a focus on machine learning
• Practical experience developing AI models using classical machine learning methods, ideally across several projects or years in industry, research or other project contexts
• Very good programming skills in Python and practical experience with common ML frameworks (e.g. PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit-learn, Hugging Face)
• Understanding of common AI disciplines, e.g. classical machine learning, regression methods or computer vision, combined with a willingness to deepen existing areas of focus and explore new topics
• Interest in current developments in machine learning and experience systematically evaluating new AI approaches, as well as contributing to and/or supporting research and development projects in the field of machine learning
• Experience building and integrating AI systems into APIs and software solutions in collaboration with other IT disciplines, as well as practical experience with common cloud frameworks or on-premise environments
• Ability to apply technical solutions pragmatically to specific use cases and develop them iteratively through collaboration with colleagues
• Structured and analytical approach to work, with a focus on the traceability of models, careful documentation and responsible handling of data
• Very good German and English language skills
