BJAK is a financial services platform that began as a mobile-first online insurance platform and is expanding into spending, saving, investing, exchanging, travelling, and other ways to help people manage their money.

• Build AI-powered workflows, assistants, agents, and automation systems;
• Apply AI across customer support, CRM, onboarding, claims, renewals, payments, operations, and internal tools;
• Work with product and engineering teams to turn manual processes into scalable AI-native systems;
• Build integrations with LLMs, internal data, APIs, documents, knowledge bases, and business systems;
• Design evaluation, monitoring, and fallback flows so AI outputs are useful, safe, and reliable;
• Prototype quickly, test with users or operators, and productionize what works;
• Improve speed, quality, and consistency across workflows using AI where it creates business value.

• Strong software engineering foundation, preferably with Python and backend systems;
• Hands-on experience building with LLM APIs, agents, RAG, workflow automation, or AI tools;
• Ability to connect AI systems with real product, data, and operational workflows;
• Good judgement on where AI helps and where rule-based systems or human review are better;
• Understanding of evaluation, accuracy, latency, cost, privacy, and failure modes;
• Ability to prototype, test, and ship practical systems quickly;
• Strong English communication;
• Practical AI builder focused on workflows, systems, and measurable quality;
• Ability to build quickly while maintaining guardrails and reliability;
• Comfort working with messy real-world data and processes;
• Honest understanding of what AI can and cannot do;
• Nice to have: experience in fintech, insurance, support automation, CRM, or operations automation;
• Candidates who only want research projects without production ownership, treat AI as demos instead of working systems, disregard evaluation, reliability, or user impact, overclaim AI impact without evidence, or cannot work with product, operations, and business teams are not a fit.

• Online assessment or practical task, followed by a technical interview and CEO/final round;
• Strong candidates may complete the process and receive an offer within 1 week from the start of the interview process;
• Candidates who complete assessments quickly will be prioritized;
• The role is remote for candidates already based in Portugal.
