• Take design responsibility for key product areas of the BundesMessenger—from UX strategy and user-flow design to creating intuitive interfaces for web and mobile
• Act as the interface between design and development, and support the entire implementation process through precise specifications, design tokens, and a thorough understanding of frontend implementation
• Strategically develop the design system, define binding standards, and ensure consistency between design components and their technical implementation, for example through design tokens and component libraries
• Plan and conduct usability tests and research activities, integrate the findings into the product journey, and make data-driven design decisions based on quantitative and qualitative data
• Confidently represent UX topics to stakeholders and balance business requirements, technical possibilities, and design principles to develop sustainable solutions
• Share knowledge and provide professional mentoring to less experienced designers, offer constructive and well-founded feedback, and continuously improve UX quality across the team
• Actively shape design and collaboration processes, particularly handoff workflows and collaboration between UX, development, and product owners
• Work closely and as equals with developers, product owners, and UX colleagues across disciplines, including on technical questions

• A completed degree in User Experience, Design, Media Informatics, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), or a comparable qualification, as well as at least five years of professional experience in user-centered design of apps and software products, including independently managing complex projects
• In-depth technical knowledge of HTML and CSS, a basic understanding of JavaScript, and familiarity with component-based frontend frameworks such as React, Vue, or Angular
• Confident use of Figma, particularly Auto Layout, variables, and Dev Mode, as well as structured and complete design handoffs to development teams, for example through Storybook
• Demonstrated experience building or significantly developing design systems, including technical aspects such as design tokens and documentation
• In-depth knowledge of research methods and usability testing, including selecting appropriate methods, conducting research, and deriving relevant insights—even when stakeholder expectations differ
• Knowledge of accessible design in accordance with WCAG and BITV, ideally supplemented by experience with technical implementation
• Strong communication and feedback skills, active knowledge sharing within the team, and a willingness to take responsibility beyond the scope of one's own tasks
• A compelling portfolio demonstrating design skills and the concrete impact of your work, ideally with examples of successfully translating designs into technical implementation
• We are looking for someone who communicates fluently between design and development and has a strong understanding of the technical requirements and possibilities of product design

• The starting salary is generally between EUR 71,000 and EUR 91,650 gross per year. The specific amount is determined based on criteria such as qualifications, scope of responsibility, and the requirements of the position. Justified exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis
