product designer for field operations

The client builds mobile and cloud software for field teams in restoration, remodeling, and claims. The product helps professionals capture site conditions, create floor plans, document photos and forms, generate reports, and turn onsite data into scopes and estimates for office teams and stakeholders.

• Observe customers in real working environments and independently run discovery research;
• Synthesize customer evidence and communicate insights across Design, Product, Engineering, and the wider company;
• Refine user problems, explore directions, validate solutions, and stay involved through implementation;
• Design connected field and office workflows across iOS, Android, and web;
• Create interaction models and prototypes;
• Make implementation-ready design decisions;
• Simplify complex operational products without losing important context;
• Choose when to reuse, adapt, or create new design patterns;
• Contribute patterns and components to the existing design system;
• Move independently from an initial problem statement to a recommended and validated solution;
• Define success with Product and Engineering and negotiate scope;
• Share unfinished work, explain alternatives and reasoning, and respond constructively to critique;
• Work closely with Product and Engineering throughout implementation;
• Remain involved through product iteration and assess customer and business outcomes.

• Based in Germany;
• Already authorized to work in Germany;
• German and English at C1 level;
• Comfortable spending full working days with German-speaking customers;
• Willing to travel to customer sites approximately once per month, primarily within Germany;
• Able to independently run discovery and design from an initial problem through handoff;
• Experience with complex digital products or workflows;
• Working knowledge of iOS, Android, and web platform conventions, including cross-platform design tradeoffs;
• Experience working with and contributing to an existing design system;
• Already use AI for research or synthesis and are open to AI-assisted exploration and prototyping;
• Comfortable sharing unfinished work and receiving critique;
• Able to operate independently, shape ambiguous product problems, and influence product direction without intensive daily mentorship;
• Strong UX, interaction, and visual design foundations across iOS, Android, and web;
• Understanding of iOS Human Interface Guidelines, Android Material, and web platform conventions;
• Experience designing mobile products used in real working environments;
• Nice to have: experience with B2B SaaS for field workers or technical operators, field service, construction, energy, logistics, restoration, inspection, claims, or industrial products; products involving several personas with connected or conflicting needs; measurable improvements in adoption, accuracy, completion, efficiency, or reduced rework; sustained product ownership through implementation and iteration; spatial products, mapping, imaging, augmented reality, 3D, or digital twins.

• Remote and asynchronous working;
• Customer travel approximately once per month, primarily within Germany;
