Planet designs, builds, and operates the largest constellation of imaging satellites in history. Its cloud-based platform delivers empirical Earth observation data to commercial, environmental, and humanitarian sectors.

• Drive the end-to-end design process from discovery and user research to prototyping and high-fidelity execution;
• Lead user research and prototype testing to validate high-value use cases within CivGov and Commercial;
• Define user-based objectives and success criteria to drive meaningful outcomes;
• Architect intuitive interfaces that translate complex geospatial data into actionable insights;
• Establish reusable interaction patterns and components for Planet’s solutions;
• Partner with product and engineering teams to ensure design quality;
• Facilitate cross-team collaboration in ambiguous problem spaces;
• Bridge technical capabilities and customer value;
• Contribute to building and elevating Planet’s design culture.

• 6+ Years designing complex SaaS or B2B products from early ideation to launch;
• Bachelor’s degree in design or an equivalent field;
• End-to-end experience taking projects from early ideation to live software and iterating based on feedback;
• A solid portfolio showing complex professional projects, the design process, and resulting impact;
• Experience conducting user research and usability testing and turning findings into actionable improvements;
• Experience designing sophisticated, data-heavy applications;
• UX/UI, interaction design, rapid prototyping, accessibility, and visual design skills;
• Proficiency in Figma and enterprise design systems;
• Ability to work quickly in undefined and ambiguous environments;
• Nice to have: AI-powered tools or geospatial data visualization, GIS, geospatial data or remote sensing, using AI tools for creative ideation, design or prototype generation, ownership of complex systemic problems, balancing usability with business needs, experience in growth-focused and highly collaborative teams.
