data analyst for a marketplace group

The analyst supports analytics work within a large marketplace group.

• Own the design and delivery of parts of data analytics solutions, taking business requirements from idea generation through implementation with some supervision
• Consume data independently, prepare it for analysis, and translate business problems into data stories, seeking guidance on more complex tasks
• Deliver work that informs business decisions for the product or business area covered by the team
• Apply foundational data analysis and visualisation skills to answer business questions and build intuitive visualisations that reflect stakeholder needs
• Collaborate with operational and project-based stakeholders under manager guidance, presenting insights in an accessible, business-friendly way
• Adopt existing internal data analytics approaches and develop technical skills when more efficient methods emerge
• Grow craft skills and use data analytics to drive impact on well-defined business problems
• Support junior peers through knowledge sharing
• Understand the wider data ecosystem and how the work fits into it; work with peers in related disciplines such as Data Engineering as needed
• Maintain a high-level understanding of the area’s goals, such as its track or vertical
• Ensure the quality of own work through peer review

• Experience with reporting, data visualisation and analysis
• Ability to manage stakeholders largely autonomously and escalate complex scenarios when needed
• Strong prioritisation skills, with a focus on business impact and managing expectations as requirements change
• Ability to combine business understanding with knowledge of data, workflows, methods and tooling
• Understanding of data quality and stability best practices
• Comfortable adapting existing tooling and approaches to business and user needs
