Product manager in business energy

Volter exists to solve it. We’re building the first AI native operating system for business energy, so that every business can run on power that’s cheaper, cleaner and more secure. Octopus and Kraken did this for homes; we’re doing it for business. And it’s working. We launched our platform in early 2026 and have already 20x revenue with customers from all across the UK now using the Volter platform. We’re still a small team, so you’ll shape the product, the tech and the culture from the ground up.

• Own the roadmap across our customer and partner platform and the internal tooling for pricing, ops and billing.
• Spend real time with brokers (the energy consultants who bring us business customers), customers (the businesses we supply) and generators (the renewable sites we buy power from), as well as our own teams. Turn what you learn into sharp problem statements.
• Write crisp specs and narratives that make complex things like energy data, pricing, settlement and billing simple.
• Prioritise ruthlessly against commercial impact: revenue, win rates and hours saved.
• Work hand in hand with our engineering team (~5 engineers), setting direction and giving them the context, clarity and unblocking they need to do their best work.
• Prototype ideas and the initial designs yourself with AI tools, testing them before an engineer writes a line of code.
• Ship fast, measure outcomes and iterate, keeping quality high.
• Align founders, commercial, pricing and ops on the roadmap, the trade-offs and progress, so everyone knows what’s coming and why.

• B2B product management experience at an early-stage startup, ideally in complex, multi-stakeholder products. You’ve taken products from 0→1, including the initial design, without a product org, design team or research team around you.
• Ideally, experience in a regulated or data-heavy industry such as fintech, insurance, marketplaces or energy, where the product has to handle complex data, rules and multiple stakeholders.
• A track record of outcomes, not features: you can point to measurable commercial impact from both external products and internal tools you’ve shipped.
• Strong technical and data fluency. You understand data models, APIs and system constraints, and you pull and analyse data yourself (SQL or equivalent).
• You relish discovery and can clearly articulate the user insights that changed what you built.
• Excellent writing. Your specs and problem statements are simplifying.
