Product manager for government and defense

At Wire, we provide secure communications for governments, defence organisations and regulated companies across Europe. We helped shape the development of Messaging Layer Security (MLS) and are now among the pioneers in its large-scale production use, with end-to-end encrypted messages, calls and file sharing. Our Government Edition has BSI approval for communications at VS-NfD level within its approved scope of use.

• You build trusted relationships with customers, prospects and partners and represent Wire's Product organisation in senior-level product discussions.
• Together with Sales and Partnerships, you work on major sales opportunities, RFPs and tenders, bring credible product expertise and assess customer requirements.
• You keep an eye on the commercial pipeline, strategic customer commitments and new market opportunities.
• You align clear goals, intended outcomes and priorities with one or more Value Streams, in line with Wire's product strategy.
• You translate customer and market needs into clearly defined product problems and opportunities for Scope Teams and Engineering Teams.
• You bring customer, commercial and business context into important product and prioritisation decisions so teams understand the reasons behind priorities.
• You identify dependencies across Value Streams and coordinate product alignment when customer needs affect multiple parts of the Wire platform.
• You work closely with Information Security when customer requirements involve security, assurance, accreditation or regulation, while keeping responsibilities clearly separated between Product and Security.
• Together with Product Marketing and the Commercial team, you ensure that the product's capabilities and direction are accurately represented in the market.
• You build trusted working relationships with key customers, prospects and commercial stakeholders from government and defence in Germany.
• You align clear goals for the Value Streams you support and provide clear product direction for the most valuable cross-product opportunities.

• Extensive experience in product management in a B2B or enterprise technology environment.
• German and English at least at C1 level, spoken and written.
• Demonstrated experience working directly with senior customers and commercial stakeholders and translating their needs into product direction.
• Strong product judgement: you distinguish underlying customer problems from desired solutions and individual requests from broader market opportunities.
• Experience setting product goals and outcomes and influencing the priorities of Scope Teams and Engineering Teams.
• Strong commercial acumen and the ability to communicate credibly with technical and non-technical audiences and make clear trade-offs.
• Будет плюсом: Experience with the German public sector or defence organisations such as the Bundeswehr, BWI, BAAINBw, federal ministries or their suppliers, ideally with an established network in this environment; Experience with products for government, defence, critical infrastructure or other highly regulated customers, as well as public procurement and complex sales cycles; Experience with secure communications, collaboration software, enterprise SaaS or security-focused technology products; Understanding of digital sovereignty requirements in Germany and Europe; Experience working across multiple product teams or Value Streams; An existing Ü2/Ü3 security clearance, or the eligibility and willingness to undergo the process
