Head of Finance for an e-money institution

ZEN.COM is a financial app for payments, online shopping, and personal finance management. It offers cashback, spending controls, purchase protection, and a multi-currency account for international spending and shopping.

• Develop annual budgets and financial forecasts
• Monitor financial performance against budget
• Manage cash flow forecasting and liquidity
• Produce financial analysis to support strategic decision-making
• Analyze profitability across products and business lines
• Ensure compliance with FCA requirements for Electronic Money Institutions, including Own Funds calculations, capital adequacy monitoring, wind-down financial planning, and regulatory reporting
• Support the preparation of FCA regulatory returns
• Oversee daily safeguarding reconciliations and take responsibility for them
• Monitor the segregation of safeguarded client funds
• Review safeguarding calculations
• Escalate safeguarding exceptions
• Ensure safeguarding records are complete and auditable
• Support safeguarding audits and regulatory reviews
• Maintain an effective financial control framework and foster a strong control culture across finance processes
• Ensure accounting records are accurate
• Oversee month-end and year-end close
• Monitor liquidity
• Manage banking relationships
• Forecast funding requirements
• Oversee supplier and operational expense payments
• Optimize working capital while meeting regulatory obligations
• Prepare annual statutory accounts
• Coordinate external audits and manage relationships with external auditors
• Ensure timely Companies House filings
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent)
• Significant post-qualification experience in financial services
• Experience in an FCA-regulated EMI, Payment Institution (PI), or banking environment
• Strong understanding of Electronic Money Regulations 2011, Payment Services Regulations 2017, the FCA Handbook, safeguarding requirements, and prudential requirements for EMIs
• Experience producing Board-level financial reports and managing external audits
• Strong treasury and liquidity management experience
• Excellent knowledge of UK accounting standards (IFRS or UK GAAP)
• Experience implementing financial controls
• Strong commercial acumen
• Ability to make decisions under pressure
• Stakeholder management skills
