Financial Analyst

Great Lakes Insurance SE is a specialty provider of primary insurance services in the UK and an insurance platform within Munich Re Group’s Global and Specialty Insurance Unit. Its UK entities facilitate agency and specialty insurance business and operate in a regulated environment.

• Identify and deliver improvements to finance processes, reporting activities and controls to improve efficiency, data quality and business outcomes;
• Translate business requirements into practical process improvements, reporting enhancements and automation solutions;
• Develop and maintain reporting, dashboards and analytical tools that improve transparency, insight and reduce manual effort;
• Test, document, control and embed process improvements and automation solutions into business-as-usual operations;
• Support adoption of new processes and tools through training, guidance and knowledge sharing;
• Represent Great Lakes Finance UK on cross-functional initiatives relating to finance processes, reporting and automation;
• Ensure finance requirements are appropriately reflected in cross-functional initiatives;
• Satisfy regulatory reporting requirements in collaboration with the reporting function;
• Ensure compliance with Munich Re’s Code of Conduct and the FCA Conduct Rules;
• Act as a subject-matter expert and mentor, sharing knowledge and identifying development opportunities for colleagues;
• Demonstrate inclusive behaviour and encourage colleagues to contribute to an inclusive culture;
• Treat colleagues, sales and business partners fairly and with respect.

• Strong finance background gained within insurance, reinsurance or another regulated environment;
• Strong understanding of finance processes, reporting, controls and governance requirements;
• Demonstrated experience identifying inefficiencies and delivering practical process improvements;
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate business requirements into sustainable solutions;
• Hands-on experience using SQL, Power Query and/or Python to improve finance processes, reporting and decision-making;
• Experience leveraging AI-enabled tools to improve productivity, analysis or business processes;
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills;
• Degree, professional qualification or equivalent relevant experience;
• Relevant experience in finance, finance operations, reporting, financial control, technical accounting or related finance roles;
• Experience delivering process improvement initiatives and implementing sustainable solutions;
• Proven expertise in the relevant field, with the ability to act as a role model and mentor;
• Nice to have: Experience in insurance or reinsurance finance automation, reporting and process improvement.
