Affirm is reinventing credit by enabling consumers to buy now and pay later without hidden fees or compounding interest. Its Site Reliability Engineering team develops frameworks, best practices, tooling, training, and consulting to improve application reliability and customer experience.

• Own and deliver quarterly goals for the team;
• Lead engineers through ambiguity to solve open-ended problems and support them throughout delivery;
• Collaborate with infrastructure, product management, developer experience, and analytics in the product development lifecycle;
• Participate in ideation, articulate technical constraints, and partner on risk- and trade-off-aware decisions;
• Identify technical solutions and operational processes that strengthen incident readiness, response, and post-incident analysis;
• Create and monitor metrics for the team’s artifacts;
• Escalate issues when needed and support keep-the-lights-on and on-call efforts;
• Set or improve code review and design standards for the team;
• Advocate for engineering standards beyond the team through writing and tech talks;
• Develop talent by providing feedback and guidance and leading by example.

• 4+ Years of experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale using Bash, Python, or Kotlin;
• Experience developing highly available distributed systems with AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes;
• Meaningful experience contributing to or driving parts of the Incident Lifecycle process;
• 4+ Years of experience working in a Site Reliability or Production Engineering team;
• Curiosity with empathy and strong opinions loosely held;
• Experience defining technical plans for significant features or system components with elegant, simple, and extensible designs;
• Ability to write high-quality, understandable, and reusable code;
• Experience making impactful changes in a large code base;
• Experience developing tools and practices that enable safe changes;
• Ownership of professional growth and proactive feedback seeking;
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with a global engineering team.

• Base pay range: 308,000 zł - 428,000 zł per year;
