distributed systems engineer for cloud infrastructure tooling

Netflix is an entertainment service offering TV series, films, games, and live content to members worldwide. Its Cloud Infrastructure Engineering team builds and operates the foundational compute, storage, networking, and performance platform that supports Netflix’s engineering organization at global scale.

• Design, build, and operate software solutions and tooling for compute, storage, networking, and performance engineering teams
• Solve business needs at large scale using software engineering and analytical problem-solving
• Build tools and software solutions that improve developer and product experiences in collaboration with team members and stakeholders
• Architect and build robust, scalable, highly available distributed infrastructure
• Drive alignment with stakeholders and set partner expectations
• Lead cross-functional initiatives with engineers, product managers, and TPMs across teams
• Share experiences with open-source communities and contribute to Netflix OSS

• 7 Or more years of experience designing and building complex, scalable distributed data infrastructure
• Proficiency in at least one of Java, Go, or C++, with a strong software engineering foundation and the ability to write clean, maintainable, high-performance code
• Practical understanding of at least one infrastructure domain: compute, distributed storage, cloud networking, or performance
• Experience owning and delivering high-impact systems end-to-end, with accountability in dynamic and sometimes ambiguous environments
• Experience building and operating scalable, fault-tolerant distributed systems
• Motivation to work on infrastructure that other engineers depend on, with a focus on reliability and resilience
• A product mindset for internal tooling, considering developer experience, adoption, and real-world impact on the teams served
• Comfort with ambiguity and experience shaping problem definitions and solutions
• An approach to technical challenges based on first principles rather than familiar patterns when better solutions exist
