DevOps engineer in telecom infrastructure

We are expanding our presence in Lisbon and are looking for a DevOps Engineer to join the TelcoCloud Enabler Services team and drive Infrastructure as Code across Swisscom’s TelcoCloud infrastructure.

• Design, implement and operate Infrastructure as Code solutions for the TelcoCloud IaaS layer.
• Evaluate technology options, define design patterns and propose scalable approaches for new and evolving enabler services.
• Develop and maintain our CI/CD pipelineframework and automation tooling on GitLab CI.
• Engineer and operate key services including IAM (OpenLDAP), Vault, Bacula, Zabbix and HA clusters.
• Manage Linux system engineering, KVM virtualisation, secrets management and logging infrastructure.
• Implement and improve configuration management with Puppet or Ansible.
• Maintain and improve monitoring, alerting and backup systems.
• Build automation and integration tooling in Python and Bash, from small scripts to larger solutions.
• Take part in the 24/7 on-call rotation and handle operational incidents.

• 3 - 5 years of experience.
• University degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience.
• Strong command of Linux systems (RHEL/CentOS, Ubuntu), which you navigate intuitively.
• Solid foundational knowledge of networking, including routing, DNS, DHCP, LDAP and virtualisation.
• Advanced knowledge of Python and Bash, with a focus on clean, maintainable code.
• Confident with Git in a team-based development workflow.
• Interest in or experience with solution design and architecture decisions in an infrastructure context.
• Strong documentation skills: structured, careful and precise.
• Self-organised, proactive and focused on practical delivery.
• Good written and spoken English (at least B2 level).
• Availability for the 24/7 on-call rotation and for occasional travel to Switzerland (around 1–2 times per year).
