• Design, build and maintain automation solutions for application and infrastructure building, testing and deployment;
• Continually build, test and integrate software produced by developers;
• Automate deployment of artefacts produced by continuous integration;
• Orchestrate the deployment, management, scaling and networking of containers;
• Automate the scheduling and scaling of application workloads;
• Design, deploy and manage public or private cloud environments;
• Maintain configuration and source code control of all artefacts;
• Diagnose and resolve issues across infrastructure, code, networking and databases;
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support shared goals;
• Share knowledge within the project team and wider organisation;
• Adapt to new situations and technologies;
• Configure, harden and maintain operating systems;
• Deploy and maintain database management systems and troubleshoot issues;
• Manage ongoing BAU platform support in operational environments, including change and incident management, service requests, monitoring and maintenance;
• Ensure security is considered early in the development lifecycle and maintained continuously;
• Work with developers on application development methods and delivery;
• Design and document architectures using best practices, patterns and frameworks;
• Contribute to sprint ceremonies as an active Scrum team member;
• Apply SRE principles to improve reliability and reduce the team’s support burden.

• Confidence configuring at least one public or private cloud platform;
• Ability to program or script automation solutions;
• Experience with at least one containerisation platform and orchestration tool;
• Broad understanding of application development technologies;
• Understanding of legacy technologies and infrastructure;
• Understanding of application development methods and delivery;
• Understanding of security practices for deployed infrastructure;
• Understanding of the Agile Manifesto and its 12 Principles;
• Understanding of SRE principles;
• Active eDV clearance before applying;
• Baseline Personnel Security Standard eligibility;
• Many roles require 5 to 10 years of continuous residency in the UK, depending on the required vetting level;
• Nice to have: experience with public or private cloud platforms, operating systems, programming languages, containerisation, application technologies, databases, legacy infrastructures, IT operations, security, architecture, Agile and Scrum.
