devops engineer for distributed microservices

B. Braun operates in medical equipment manufacturing and develops digital products in a regulated healthcare environment. Its DevOps and Platform Engineering teams support distributed systems, microservice architectures, event-driven patterns, and cloud-native capabilities.

• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for microservice applications;
• Design and build infrastructure for distributed systems using Infrastructure as Code;
• Support the implementation of event-driven architecture patterns and message-based integration;
• Implement distributed tracing and health monitoring across microservices;
• Collaborate directly with developers to improve application reliability and observability;
• Troubleshoot system issues across the full technology stack;
• Implement comprehensive monitoring and observability solutions for microservice ecosystems;
• Identify common patterns across teams that could be standardized;
• Contribute reusable components to the evolving internal platform;
• Implement and maintain infrastructure automation that benefits multiple teams;
• Help establish best practices for cloud-native and distributed systems;
• Work with the Center of Competence "DevOps" to align with organizational standards and improve B. Braun's DevSecOps culture.

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field, or comparable professional experience of 3+ years;
• Strong understanding of distributed systems patterns and microservice architectures;
• Experience with event-driven architecture and messaging systems;
• Experience with container orchestration, particularly Kubernetes;
• Knowledge of cloud platforms, particularly Microsoft Azure;
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform;
• Proficiency with CI/CD tools and practices, including GitHub Actions and ArgoCD;
• Scripting experience with Python and Bash;
• Experience with monitoring, distributed tracing, and observability tools;
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities;
• Problem-solving mindset with a systems thinking approach;
• Ability to balance immediate needs with long-term solutions;
• Self-motivated and committed to continuous learning;
• Comfortable working with cross-functional teams;
• Organized and methodical approach to complex problems;
• Nice to have: experience with service mesh technologies such as Istio and Linkerd, knowledge of API gateway patterns and implementations, familiarity with event sourcing and CQRS patterns, experience with message brokers such as Kafka and RabbitMQ, understanding of regulated software development, experience with GitOps workflows.
