• Extract business logic from legacy codebases (PHP, Perl, or JavaScript) and reimplement it into modern, maintainable Python services;
• Design and build reliable, scalable microservices;
• Ensure idempotency, data integrity, and graceful error handling across all services;
• Split time between building new features and refactoring legacy modules;
• Design and consume external APIs with a focus on webhooks, callbacks, and complex retry policies;
• Collaborate with multiple stakeholders across departments in agile sprints;
• Apply a product-focused mindset to understand business logic and end-user impact;
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, Docker, or Kubernetes infrastructure;
• Propose and advocate for tools or technologies to improve performance, security, or development speed.

• 5+ Years of backend engineering experience with strong Python expertise;
• Deep AsyncIO proficiency for building non-blocking, high-reliability microservices;
• Production-grade experience with FastAPI;
• Experience with MySQL and/or PostgreSQL, including query design and migration strategies;
• Experience writing unit and integration tests, preferably with pytest;
• Expertise in designing and consuming external APIs;
• Ownership mindset for high-traffic applications;
• Ability to explain the reasoning behind code and deep engineering logic;
• Strong English (written and verbal);
• Nice to have: Experience with PHP, Perl, or JavaScript, Kafka, Redis, Docker, CI/CD, Kubernetes, financial industry exposure, and a track record of successful system migrations.
