PHP developer in the energy sector

At FactorEnergía, we are looking for a PHP developer to evolve our energy business applications in Spain and Portugal. You will work on billing, contracts, consumption, integrations and internal tools, with a direct impact on day-to-day operations. The role combines PHP development with a significant amount of business logic in SQL Server. We are looking for someone who can investigate incidents, understand functional rules and take changes from analysis through validation and production deployment, in coordination with the team.

• Develop and maintain modules for our applications in PHP, mainly with Yii2: controllers, models, forms, lists, permissions and migrations. Collaborate on services and applications in Symfony, depending on the module.
• Implement and improve billing, adjustments, consumption validation, contracts and offer generation processes, ensuring calculation accuracy and data consistency.
• Design, debug and optimize queries, views and stored procedures in SQL Server. Analyze locks, performance and transactional behavior in business processes.
• Integrate APIs and external services, including REST and SOAP/XML flows, certificate management, errors, retries and operations that can be resumed without creating duplicates.
• Automate background processes and scheduled tasks with Jenkins and SQL Server Agent; add execution tracking and alerts to detect failures in time.
• Work with Git, code reviews and Jira; document changes, dependencies and operating procedures, and compare solutions with the business and systems teams.

• Understanding of business processes, a problem-solving mindset and good communication with technical and business teams, to clearly explain what changes, how it is validated and what remains pending.
• Technical judgment to review code, whether written by you or generated with AI tools, and determine whether it is correct, secure and consistent with business rules.
• Demonstrable experience developing in PHP with an object-oriented approach and maintaining business applications. As a guideline, we are looking for at least 2 years of experience.
• Practical experience with a PHP framework (Yii2, Symfony, Laravel or another) and the ability to demonstrate that you can quickly adapt to the ones we use.
• Proficiency in T-SQL: stored procedures, views, transactions, error handling and diagnosis of slow queries or locks. The database is a central part of development.
• Experience integrating APIs and handling communication errors, authentication and data consistency.
• Regular use of Git and participation in code reviews; ability to design and run tests that verify business rules and prevent regressions.
