Spotify is the world’s most popular audio streaming subscription service. The Subscriptions Mission oversees the user journey, grows Spotify’s audience, and delivers features and services to millions of people worldwide.

• Architect, develop, and operate Java services that support conversion and upsell journeys through the merchandising platform;
• Collaborate with the squad and internal partners to design scalable backend systems, data models, and APIs on Google Cloud Platform;
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship in an autonomous, cross-functional agile squad;
• Collaborate with squads, engineering managers, and product managers to identify and solve challenging problems;
• Scale automation and new platform capabilities.

• 5+ Years of experience as a Backend Engineer working with Java;
• Strong computer science fundamentals;
• Experience building complex backend services at scale;
• Experience designing, implementing, and scaling cloud-native software components on GCP, AWS, or similar providers;
• Experience working directly with stakeholders to understand, document, and develop APIs and systems;
• Ability to work collaboratively on cross-functional teams and independently drive complex delivery initiatives;
• Experience writing distributed, high-volume services and deploying and operating them in production;
• Growth mindset and passion for contributing to team goals and the Spotify Mission;
• Nice to have: gRPC, GCP, BigQuery, Bigtable, integrations with external CMS solutions, collaboration with ML teams on recommendations and data pipelines.

• The role is based in London or Stockholm;
