• Write high-quality, performant code, primarily in Kotlin, and navigate the codebase fluently;
• Handle deployment, bug fixing, and incident handling independently, taking features from concept to production;
• Partner with Product Managers during Product Discovery to ensure technical decisions support the user experience;
• Challenge existing approaches by evaluating the purpose of features and simpler alternatives;
• Identify knowledge gaps and technical problems, taking ownership to address them proactively;
• Share learnings from GSDD projects with the wider team;
• Explore new technology stacks, fix persistent bugs, and prototype ideas during GSDD innovation time.

• Proven experience as a Software Engineer taking features from concept to production with minimal supervision;
• Experience thriving in dynamic environments where requirements evolve rapidly;
• A growth mindset and a specific plan for continuous learning;
• An evidence-over-opinion approach, pairing critiques with practical solutions;
• Strong backend development skills, with Kotlin as the default language for new services;
• Experience with Distributed Microservices and Event-Driven Architecture using Kafka;
• Good understanding of cloud infrastructure and containerization with AWS, Kubernetes, and Docker;
• Experience with observability and monitoring tools such as Datadog and ELK/OpenSearch;
• Resilience and proactive communication when navigating unresponsive stakeholders and unblocking work;
• A proactive approach to improving broken processes.
